Types of glasses used

Glass is a material that has had a lot of applications in the past years and any and every commercial building we see is made up of glass. It is used in almost anything and everything and bespoke glass and other types are ordered a lot. If you find yourself in a position where you are going to have to order a glass cut to size then you should be aware of what type of glass you need! Mentioned below are the types of glass you should be well aware of!

·         Types of glass

o   Annealed Glass
It is the basic flat glass product of the first process. This is a rather weak form of glass and can break easily. There are these furnitures like dinner tables and center tables which do not cost a lot. That is because this thin material of glass is used in making.

o   Toughened Glass

A toughened glass is made out of an annealed glass. An annealed glass is heated above its ‘annealing point’ which is well over 600’c. After this it is rapidly cooled down and the end result is this annealed glass being cool on the outside and hot in the inside giving it a chemical reaction that makes this glass toughened.

o   Laminated Glass

Made by sticking two or glasses together with one or more inter layers to it, laminated glass is pretty toughened and is used extensively by a lot of stores and shops.

o   Coated Glass

Coated glass is heated first and then applied with a coating for various reasons, to give it a certain level of finish and look, to provide special reflection, transmission and absorption properties as well.

o   Mirrored Glass

Mirrored glass is nothing but a simple mirror that we see on cupboards and elevators.
